The Panama Beach Soccer Team sealed their qualification to the next phase of the CONCACAF Beach Soccer Championship by beating their counterpart from the Dominican Republic 8-1, in a match played this Tuesday, May 9 at Malcolm Park in the Bahamas.
The Panamanian goals were scored by goalkeeper Jaime Londoño, Julio Watson, Rafael García and Alberto Kelly, all with a double each.
With the victory, Panama Beach Soccer advanced to the quarterfinals of the tournament with six points in group C, awaiting their match tomorrow against the also classified team from the United States, who also won comfortably in the second hour by dispatching Trinidad and Tobago by 6 to 2.
After two dates in group C, Panama and the USA are tied at the top with six points each, but with the advantage for the North Americans due to better goal difference.
The winner of tomorrow’s match between the Americans and Panamanians will go first in group C, while the loser will get second place.
It was the second victory in a row for the sand warriors in the competition, after making their debut last Monday with a 2-1 win over Trinidad and Tobago.
Panama is looking to celebrate a World Cup qualification again in the Bahamas, after being crowned CONCACAF Beach Soccer champions six years ago when they qualified for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup as winners of the 2017 World Cup.
The CONCACAF Beach Soccer World Cup Qualifier classifies the two finalists to the next FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, to be played in November in the United Arab Emirates.
