Ordination of deacon Raúl Vega is “postponed” until “everything is in order,” says Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee

The priestly ordination ceremony of the Nicaraguan deacon and former politician of the Ortega-Murillo dictatorship, Raúl Antonio Vega, was not “postponed” as initially stated this Monday, but rather “postponed” due to a lack of necessary elements that would eventually make that ceremony invalid. ordination.

The Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee, USA issued an official statement through its website making it clear that Deacon Vega will no longer be ordained a priest until all the necessary requirements are met.

The statement notes that “due to the solemnity of the priesthood ministerial, it is absolutely vital to ensure that everything is in order before proceeding with an ordination.”

He adds that in Deacon Vega’s current situation “obtaining the proper documentation and permission has been a challenge.” Faced with such limitations, the Bishop of the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahasee, William Wack, says he is not “completely sure that he has the capacity to authorize this ordination.”

The statement from the US diocese explains that “rather than celebrate an ordination and then discover that certain elements were missing (thus making it invalid), I have decided that we cannot ordain the deacon to the priesthood at this time,” the document says.
