An atmospheric phenomenon known as a waterspout today surprised the inhabitants of coastal towns to the east of this capital, without preliminary reports of human losses or injuries.
According to numerous people on social networks, including photos of the event, the waterspout penetrated the land through an area between the beaches of Tarará and Guanabo, causing the downing of numerous trees and some damage to power lines.
This phenomenon could have been caused by the prevailing atmospheric conditions this Wednesday in the west of the island with the arrival of a cold front accompanied by a band of cloudy clouds and rain.
Waterspouts, which form mainly in tropical areas, occur when clouds form a funnel or tube-shaped extension that can reach up to 200 meters in diameter and about a thousand meters high, which is usually located between the base of a cumulonimbus and the surface of the sea, where they always originate.
