AN-2015 assures that it has not administered national resources

Deputies affirm, through a statement, that the AN-2015 does not have the capacity to administer the nation’s resources, and that independent entities such as the BCV, PDV Holding ad hoc are in charge. The Bloomberg news agency published that the 2015 National Assembly would receive $347 million of the funds frozen in bank accounts in the United States

The National Assembly (AN) elected in 2015 and headed by deputy Dinorah Figuera, rejected the accusations made against it by Chavismo regarding the administration of Venezuelan funds held in the United States.

Through a release spread on social networks, the opposition-controlled Parliament has disassociated itself from these resources and affirms that it does not even have the tools to manage those assets.

“It is important to remember that the legitimate National Assembly has no powers to manage the nation’s resources, nor does it have bank accounts for such purposes,” the letter details.

The statement explains that the ad hoc bodies created by Parliament to manage these assets are responsible for doing so, respecting the principle of the separation of powers. Specifically, they made reference to PDV Holding, the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV) and the Board of Administration and Protection of Assets (CAPA).

They clarify that, specifically, the BCV has autonomy and functional independence with respect to the administration of resources.

Finally, the parliamentarians deny that their members “manage, receive or administer public execution funds in personal bank accounts.”

These complaints come days after the US Treasury Department decided to stop protecting Citgo from Venezuelan creditors who want the company to be auctioned off to collect the debt.

Similarly, just hours ago the Bloomberg news agency published that the 2015 National Assembly would receive $347 million of the frozen funds in bank accounts in the United States.
