Lando Norris will remain a McLaren Formula 1 driver until at least the end of 2025, after signing a new four-year contract, the team said on Wednesday.
The 22-year-old won four podium finishes that earned him sixth place in the World Championship and helped McLaren reach fourth place in the Constructors’ Championship in 2021.
The new deal secures the Brit at McLaren for the entirety of the current rules era, starting with this year’s new-look cars, during which the team hopes to rekindle its former form that saw it contest and win the championship.

His teammate is Australian Daniel Ricciardo, whose contract runs until the end of 2023.
“The opportunity to extend our relationship with Lando reflects not only our commitment, but our belief and trust in his talent,” said team principal Andreas Seidl in a statement.
Norris made his Formula 1 debut with McLaren in 2019 after serving as a reserve and test driver.
“I grew up on this team and I’m part of this journey we’re all on,” said Norris. “Last season was another big step, both in my career and in the performance of the team, and I see and feel all the work, investment and commitment so that the team is in a position to fight for victories and titles in the future.”
McLaren will launch its 2022 car on February 11, ahead of a record 23-race season that starts in Bahrain on March 20.
