President Luis Abinader suspended this Wednesday his participation in a public act for the second time, after the Presidency of the Republic announced his presence in those activities.
Vice President Raquel Peña attended this Tuesday, replacing Abinader, at the inauguration of an X-ray system of the General Directorate of Customs in the Port of Río Haina and the presentation of the results of the Dominican Port Authority.
The president attended the first palace for the construction of Line 2C of the Santo Domingo Metro on Tuesday afternoon, an act carried out in the Enriquillo de Herrera neighborhood, West Santo Domingo.
The spokesman for the Presidency, Homero Figueroa, explained to Diario Libre that the president’s absence was due to “meetings in the Palace.”
Abinader also has the agenda to participate today in the presentation of the Improvement of Professional Technical Education and Art in a hotel in Santo Domingo.
On Tuesday, the vice president highlighted, on behalf of President Abinader, the importance of the new scanner, which will allow inspecting a thousand containers per day and will support the detection of drugs, according to the head of the National Drug Control Directorate, José Manuel Cabrera Ulloa.
