Tottenham’s Italian coach, Antonio Conte, did not rule out this Wednesday the idea of a return of Christian Eriksen to the ‘Spurs’ if the Dane, who suffered a cardiac arrest in June in the middle of the match with Denmark, recovers his form with Brentford, with whom he joined until the end of the season.
“Eriksen is part of Tottenham’s history. Coming back here will be a nice opportunity for him, for me and for the club,” explained the Italian, who coached him for two seasons at Inter Milan.
“Honestly, I was surprised by the situation because I thought Christian would need more time before returning to play in England,” he added.
Eriksen was a victim of cardiac arrest during the match of the first phase of Euro 2020, in June 2021, between Denmark and Finland in Copenhagen. He had to be revived on the field of play.
On the last day of the January market, Eriksen joined Brentford, an English club that has a Danish coach and several players also from that country.
Before playing for Inter, Eriksen was part of the Tottenham team who, under the orders of Argentine Mauricio Pochettino, reached the Champions League final in 2019.
