Police guard Prado street after protests by several families over a landslide in Havana

A strong police operation surrounded this Wednesday the vicinity of number 352 Paseo Martí (Prado), Virtudes corner, right on the border between Centro Habana and Old Havana, where this Tuesday the residents demonstrated in the street, after a partial collapse which took place on Monday.

That same day, this newspaper testified that the residents of the place had taken out their furniture and were sitting outside, talking with various police officers. A day later, as can be seen in videos broadcast on social networks, more than a dozen people the cauldrons have been rattled at the entrance, mainly mothers with their children.

In the afternoon of this Wednesday, uniformed and civilian agents were patrolling the area, attentive to the slightest movement. No neighbor offered to tell details of the spontaneous protest, which in any case was quickly silenced. Furniture was also removed from the road.

This newspaper testified that the residents of the place had taken out their furniture and were sitting outside, talking with several police officers, last Monday. (14 and a half)

The Prado thing was similar to what happened on cobbled streetwhere several interior balconies collapsed with the rains on Sunday, which were the excuse used by the Government to cancel the celebration of Workers’ Day on May 1.

The images released this Tuesday, recall the protests in late September and early October last year after the passage of Hurricane Ian when all of Cuba was left without electricity for several days. In many neighborhoods, Cuban mothers with their young children came out to bang on the cauldrons, and even blocked vehicular traffic on several streets.
