AN rejects attempts to plunder Venezuela’s assets abroad

AN rejects attempts to plunder Venezuela's assets abroad

The National Assembly (AN) approved this Tuesday the Draft Agreement rejecting attempts to plunder the Republic’s patrimony and its entities abroad with the complicity of Venezuelan political actors.

In the agreement, the Public Ministry is urged “to carry out the corresponding investigations in order to establish the criminal responsibility of the people who participate directly or indirectly” in these crimes.

The agreement was presented by the deputy to the AN, Jesús Faría, who described the sanctions as one of the most brutal measures applied by the Government of the United States, to affect the Venezuelan people.

During his participation in the session, the parliamentarian warned that the most important asset of the National Government abroad, Citgo companyis the victim of shameless dispossession by the US government and the miserable participation of the Venezuelan coup right.

“The company will surely be auctioned off at a skinny price to be able to compensate the aspirations and desires of large North American companies and other creditor companies of our country,” he stressed.

In this sense, he pointed out that the actions committed by the US – through the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) – are an attack on international law because Venezuela – moreover – has not been able to defend its assets in any US court.

“It is a true infamy because international law is being trampled in an open way, because Venezuela has not been allowed to defend its assets before US courts,” stressed the socialist leader.

In addition, he said that the United States continues to develop an action after years of systematic and recurring aggressions.

“The battle that we are waging, for assets that exceed 25,000 million dollars, we do so with the express purpose of promoting and strengthening the economic situation of the country, to provide well-being and prosperity to our people,” he said.

“The fights for the assets of our country, in relation to Citgo and Venezuelan gold, to the accounts sequestered abroad, is an act of sovereignty, which is currently headed by the president maduro and has the support of the Venezuelan working people. Farias added.

He stressed that these actions are part of the fight to make way for a new world order, in which the United States does not continue using sanctions to blackmail peoples who assume an independent position.

On the other hand, he denounced that – from the US – they seek to generate a climate of discomfort and affect the fundamental variables of the people, to create a situation of chaos in the country that leads to the overthrow of the government.

“The working class has shown a very high level of awareness and understands that in addition to their just demands affected by this blockade, the consolidation of a historical project, of a society based on justice, is so important. The working class takes the lead in the battle to rescue the Republic’s assets”, he pointed out.

For his part, the opposition deputy, José Brito, rejected the attempts to steal assets abroad by other sectors of the opposition.

“We must denounce before the international community the dangerous US intervention policy, through coercive measures,” he stressed.
