Mexican authorities found the body of a Venezuelan migrant who disappeared on Sunday, April 30, when he jumped into the Rio Grande to try to reach the United States.
The deceased migrant was identified as Víctor Andrés Lugones Cespedes, a native of Maracaibo, Zulia state. His body was found in the town of Matamoros, Tamaulipas. The Venezuelan had thrown himself into the flow with a group of foreigners.
Lugones Cespedes’s companions did manage to reach the other shore, but they were detained and released after hours by the Puente Nuevo in Matamoros, Tamaulipas.
