Rosario Murillo's niece is in charge of "minor contracts" at the Foreign Ministry

A niece of Rosario Murillo, María Gabriela Hassan Murillo, is responsible for the General Financial Administrative Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to Ministerial Agreement 14-2023 published in La Gaceta No. 63 of April 13, 2023.

Under this position, the niece of the deputy dictator, is in charge of supervising and coordinating the procedures for minor contracts in the Chancellery of the Republic, according to Ministerial Agreement No. 28-2023, published in La Gaceta No. 75 of this Tuesday. , May 2, 2023.

Hassan Murillo was granted the power to issue the initiation and adjudication resolution in the processes related to the minor contracting procedure; sign the administrative contracts, annexes and addendums derived from the contracting procedures.

In addition, administrative faculties in all its Modalities; sign the contracts, annexes and addendum derived from the Excluded Matter Regime when they are direct contracts that are financed from external funds and the others that the Law of the matter indicates for such effect; sign the contracts, annexes and addendum derived from the renewal procedures and modify the Annual Procurement Program (PAC) for the current budget period.

María Gabriela Hassan Murillo served as co-general manager of the International Airports Administration Company (EAAI) from July 2022 to January 2023. The appointment was made by her uncle Daniel Ortega, according to Presidential Agreement No. 112-2022 published in La Gaceta, Official Gazette No. 129 of July 8, 2022, year two thousand and twenty-two. She resigned from said position on January 17, 2023.

Relationship with Rosario Murillo

Hassan Murillo is the daughter of Omar Hassan Morales and Lourdes Murillo Zambrana, the latter sister of Rosario Murillo, the deputy dictator of Nicaragua. Omar Hassan Murillo is the brother of journalist Anuar Hassan, Rosario’s ex-husband in the 1970s and with whom he had a son who died in the 1972 earthquake in Managua. Omar Hassan is also the brother of Moisés Hassan, a member of the National Reconstruction Board after the overthrow of the Somoza dictatorship, now in exile.

Omar Hassan Morales was a collaborator of the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN). He died assassinated on May 12, 1979 in the “Xiloá Massacre” in Residencial Bosques de Xiloá, very close to Ciudad Sandino, when his daughter was two months old.

Hassan Morales was recruited to the FSLN by Cristian Pérez Leiva, with whom he had studied at the University. “Both drew the plans for the scenes of the Managua insurrection, which helped define the theater of popular resistance that began a month later in the eastern neighborhoods,” highlights the website Memorias de la Lucha Sandinista.
