Lombana brings proposals from Moca to Azuero

In front of an audience of more than 400 citizens of the Azuero Peninsula gathered last weekend in Chitré, Ricardo Lombana assured that his government will focus on reactivating the economy to generate lasting jobs, encourage construction and the completion of works unfinished projects, improve security (fighting delinquency, criminality and drug politics) and eradicate corruption, among other important objectives.

His statements were made during a large discussion organized by the group of aspirants for candidacies of the Movimiento Otro Camino (Moca) in circuit 6-1, headed by Dr. Joselito Villalaz, where all the aspirants for representatives, mayors and deputies of the provinces of Herrera and Los Santos.

“When I remember that we started six years ago, with a backpack and one person, and we see the path traveled until today, with hundreds of pre-candidates aspiring to positions of popular election in the national territory, I feel happy and full of satisfaction because it is the result of the voluntary work of thousands of Panamanians. That is, precisely, the difference between our project and the traditional politics in which people only move when there is money at stake!” Lombana indicated.

The politician maintained that dismantling political clientelism, – “a practice that has impoverished the nation and threatens democracy” -, is one of the main proposals of Moca, whose implementation has already begun by successfully forming a political group without patronage.

In his speech, he also said that during the government management of Moca, three priority areas will be addressed in the field of basic services: water, medicines and waste collection. “We are the only political project willing to confront the mafias, that is why they are afraid of us and they will never favor us in the polls,” said the president of Moca, amid an atmosphere of great enthusiasm and camaraderie.

After almost three hours of exchanging ideas and proposals, Lombana, aspirants and activists from the blue orange party went to the Azuero Fair, in La Villa de Los Santos, to tour its facilities and chat with exhibitors, friends and supporters.

The Otro Camino Movement is currently in the middle of its process of choosing candidates for popularly elected positions, which will be defined in a meeting of the National Directorate to be held next Sunday, July 2; while his presidential candidate will be elected on July 30.
