Eleven pediatric resident doctors began their training as pediatricians this Tuesday, May 2, at the Dr. José Renán Esquivel Children’s Hospital.
The residents were elected after a contest in which the applicants took their oral and written exams. Although 29 pediatric positions were opened throughout the country, 21 applied and 11 of them will be trained at our institution
The doctors will be preparing as interns for three years, which according to Francisco Lagrutta, head of the Teaching Department at the Hospital del Niño, during that time they will rotate through the different areas of patient care.
He stressed that in his internship, future specialists must develop a sense of commitment, humanism, quality and safety in order to guarantee comprehensive care for each patient and their families, as established by the standards of the Children’s Hospital.
It is important to mention that the process of adjudication of the places, through the National Residency Contest, culminated on April 17 and those selected are already preparing to occupy their places.
