The president of the Republic Luis Lacalle Pou congratulated Santiago Peña for his triumph in the national elections of Paraguay, through his personal Twitter account.
Congratulations @SantiPenap ! We are going to continue working together with Paraguay to complement our economies. We hope to jointly strengthen our region to open up to the world.

Lts analysts consider that the difference between the candidate of the Colorado Party of Paraguay, Santiago Peña, over the opposition candidate Efraín Alegre it is irreversible.
Lacalle Pou greeted the new president, who represents the Paraguayan ruling party, and left a message to advance the economic opening of Mercosur.
“We are going to continue working together with Paraguay to complement our economies,” the president wrote on Twitter, where he added “we trust jointly empower our region to open up to the world“.
He Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement congratulating Santiago Peña as president-elect of Paraguay and wishing “success in his future administration”.
“The government of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay hopes to continue deepening the historic relations of friendship and cooperation that unite our nations,” the statement closed.
