The IMSS registers 142,271 new jobs in January

Last month’s job creation figure means the best January on record, according to IMSS.

The industries that saw the best performance in employment were transportation and communications, with growth of 11.3%; followed by the construction sector, where there was a growth of 7.6%.

The extractive industry increased its jobs by 7.3% and commerce by 6.3%.

The state of the republic with the highest growth in jobs was Quintana Roo, a state hit during the pandemic by the closure of non-essential activities.

Tabasco and Baja Califirnia Sur also lead the list of entities with the highest creation of formal employment. In contrast, the lowest employment growth occurred in Michoacán, Oaxaca and Veracruz.
