The three seasons forecast for this long weekend

He Uruguayan Institute of Meteorology (Inumet) anticipates that this long weekend for the non-working holiday of May 1 be sunny on Saturday; cloudy, cold and even rainy on Sunday; and somewhat cloudy on Monday, with temperatures significantly lower than those of the previous days.

The agency anticipates that this Saturday temperatures in the metropolitan area range between 15°C and 28°C degrees. That thermal sensation will remain for much of the Sundayalthough the conditions will deteriorate as the day goes by: the cloudiness will increase and it is possible that rains and storms will unleash.

In addition, Inumet issued a special notice in the last few hours: he announced that starting Sunday, April 30, a “cold front” will enter that will generate “precipitation and storms”, mainly “during the afternoon and night”.

Indeed, for Monday the agency forecasts temperatures between 16°C and 11°C, with a decrease in cloudiness in the morning and an increase in the afternoon/evening.

The weather forecast for this long weekend led meteorologist José Serra to state that the weather will go through three seasons over the long weekend. “Summer on Saturday, autumn instability on Sunday and winter on Monday”as he said in dialogue with The Observer.

“We are experiencing a significant thermal shock,” he said. “Let it not catch us off guard. Because autumn we know all that with this high atmospheric variability leads to flu, colds, diseases typical of the season,” warned the meteorologist.

His prognosis, as he also pointed out to the Montevideo Portal, indicates that Saturday will have “pretty high temperatures across the country” with “25ºC the maximum and 14ºC the minimum” in the south. Serra waits “clear skies” and “good sunshine”. “Excellent day: summer,” he summed up.

Instead, “Sunday: Autumn”. “Because we are going to have the afternoon/night, the advance of a cold front that will give rise to rain and some scattered storms, affecting the southern and central regions of the country with greater intensity,” he explained.

For the capital, it foresees a “somewhat cloudy” sky with “clear periods in the morning.” From noon it will be “unstable”. “Clouds gradually increase towards the afternoon and end of the day.” By that time of day “we may have some showers.” Serra does not rule out “some isolated storms in the region”.

As for temperatures, The maximum temperatures will be maintained around 25ºC-26ºC and the minimum temperatures are 15ºC-16ºC”concluded with respect to Sunday.

Monday May 1 winter

“But on Monday, the temperatures in both the north and the south are going to drop”indicated.

In Montevideo, the expert hopes that the maximums drop to “16ºC-17ºC”, with “a minimum of 9ºC”.

“It means that we are going to drop practically 10ºC from one day to the next in terms of maximum temperatures”, while they will go down “the minimum 3ºC, 4ºC”.
