Iran and Cuba are committed to cementing ties in the face of US sanctions.

During the ceremony to receive the credentials of the new Cuban ambassador to Iran, Alberto González Casas, the Iranian president, Seyed Ebrahim Raisi, emphasized the importance of developing and deepening relations between Tehran and Havana and said that independent countries can neutralize the threats and sanctions of the global hegemonic powers raising the level of relations and satisfying their needs with each other.

Noting that anti-imperialism has brought the two nations of Iran and Cuba closer together, the Persian president considered it necessary to promote bilateral cooperation between both countries in all areas, including the economic, commercial and cultural sectors, on the basis of common interest.

Likewise, he denounced that sanctions and threats have become the new tools of arrogant powers against independent nations.

Referring to the beginnings of revolutions and liberation movements in different parts of the world, he noted that the Iranian government has “learned from Imam Khomeini to support the resistance of nations against injustice and oppression and consequently improve relations with the peoples fighting against the arrogant powers is one of the ultimate policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

The Persian president pointed out that Iran-Cuba relations are strategic, as are the ties that Tehran maintains with all the countries that are at the forefront of the fight against hegemonies.

The new ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, Alberto González Casas, in turn, affirmed that Tehran and Havana have a strong and fraternal political relationship and stressed that Cuba wants to increase the level of its economic and commercial cooperation with the Persian country.

Havana and Tehran, after the triumph of the Islamic Revolution in Iran in 1979, maintain a strategic alliance and bilateral cooperation ties in energy, housing, trade, industry, education, agriculture, science and technology, and culture, among other sectors.

Both countries have supported each other in different circumstances and condemned the aggressive measures of US imperialism against them.
