Significant progress has been made by the Ombudsman, in the second follow-up meeting of the mediation table between representatives of the National Association of Patients with Chronic Renal Failure and Family Members (ANPIRCF) and the Social Security Fund (CSS), held today at the headquarters of the National Human Rights Institution (INDH).
In this meeting, preceded by the Ombudsman, Eduardo Leblanc González, and the Director of Protection of Human Rights, Julio De Gracia, the CSS agreed to carry out joint visits with the ANPIRCF to the different hemodialysis centers in Nacional level.
The Ombudsman stated that in good faith both parties have sat down to present, listen and above all to clarify doubts about the process of purchasing machines and supplies for the care of patients with kidney failure. “Our greatest interest is to know from hemodialysis patients what their doubts are and those questions that were not answered at the time.”
Similarly, the Social Security Fund undertook to respond to two requests for notes sent by ANPIRCF and which had not been answered.
Regarding the issue of the tender, the director of Transparency of the CSS, Kathia Quiel, clarified that no supplier has been awarded the tender and that it is currently in an evaluation process.
The Ombudsman’s Office, in order to guarantee the right to health and life of this group of people, said that it will continue as guarantor of this dialogue table, so a next meeting was set for May 4 at the headquarters of the institution, will also accompany the visits that will be made to hemodialysis rooms nationwide.
