The process of electing TSJE ministers begins

On Monday, Jaime Bestard, president of the Superior Court of Electoral Justice (TSJE), sent a note to the Council of the Judiciary, announcing the two vacancies they will have this year. With this official statement, the process of calling and selecting replacements begins.

They are Vice President Alberto Ramírez Zambonini, and member María Elena Wapenka. The former will turn 75 on April 22. While the minister will reach that age on the following May 14.

Also on Monday, Jorge Bogarín, member of the Council of the Judiciary, presented the draft of a project of modifications of the internal regulations. With this, this regulation must first be discussed before launching the call for vacancies.

It is estimated that next week they will call an extraordinary session. Once the regulation has been finalized, the evaluation process will be known exactly. In other words, with the approved regulation, it will be known if the applicants will take exams, auditions or both.

The announcement, which will be published last week, will be advertised for three days in the mass media. Once this formality is completed, a period of 30 days will begin where applicants can register.

The knowledge exams will be held from the first days of April. While the hearings will be in the middle of the same month. In this way, at the end of April there will already be a list of candidates to replace Zambonini.

While in mid-May there will already be a shortlist to replace Wapenka.

ALVARENGA
Hermelinda Alvarenga, a national senator for the PLRA, is one of the candidates for the position. She stated that she has the profile required to be a member of the TSJE.

When asked about how the conversations with other benches are, she reported that she is in dialogue with all her colleagues. She at the same time is preparing for public hearings and exams.

“From the beginning I said I wanted to run. I am preparing the documentation, my awards, my law degree, my master’s degree in law, I am a doctor of education, ”she said.

He said that he wants to exercise sound politics for the benefit of the country, and as an institution the TSJE is very important.

“I will be fair, objective and transparent. Support the country project no matter how much it is in opposition, ”she concluded.

APPLICANTS
In addition to Alvarenga, the other candidates to replace Zambonini are the liberal senators, Juan Bartolomé “Ancho” Ramírez and Fernando Silva Facetti. While to replace Wapenka appear Emilio Camacho, legal adviser of the Guasu Front and María Victoria Rivas, former candidate for senator of the Patria Querida party.
