MADRID, Spain.- Baseball player Adolis García this weekend became the first Cuban player to hit five extra-base hits (three homers and two doubles) in a single Major League Baseball game and the 14th to do so in the history of the MLB.
Current right fielder for the Texas Rangers, he achieved this record in the meeting Saturday against the Oakland Athletics.

Garcia, 30, drove in eight runs and was instrumental in the victory for the Rangers, who beat their rival 18-3 at Globe Life Field.
“It was a incredible night for me. I didn’t expect something like this to happen, but I am truly blessed and grateful for it. I was just looking for certain pitches, in a certain area. I wasn’t trying to think too much, I just wanted to make good contacts.” said Adolis to MLB after the crash.
“I have been lucky enough to train great players. I will say that I had a player that was similar in the way that he plays, with the joy that he plays with, and that was Pablo Sandoval. He hit three home runs in the World Series. They just love baseball and they play the game the way you want them to play it. They play with passion. They love being out there and are always smiling. That is Adolis, ”said his manager, Bruce Bochy.

Among Cubans, only José Canseco had had three home runs and eight RBIs in an MLB game in 1994.
With his performance, Adolis García also became the first Rangers hitter with three home runs in a game since Ronald Guzmán in 2018.
García, who in 2021 was an MLB All Star, is the leading RBI pace of the current season with 28.
Nicknamed “El Bombi”, the man from Ciego de Avila left Cuba in 2017 and soon signed for the St. Louis Cardinals, with whom he made his Major League debut in 2018.
Since 2020 he has played with the Texas Rangers, where he has earned ownership.
