The Mayor’s Office of La Paz proposes the elaboration of a national norm for the medicinal use of cannabisaccording to the mayor ivan arias at a press conference on Friday morning. Arias’s proposal arises after a study carried out by the La Paz commune that suggests the therapeutic use of this herb, since it “can relieve chronic pain”.
The mayor from La Paz explained that the proposal is for the medicinal use of the oil that is extracted from cannabis and that it is used in several Latin American countries, such as Uruguay. He ruled out promoting the use of cannabis as a drug and stressed that several doctors recommend it to relieve chronic pain, nausea and vomiting, neurological disorders, anxiety and depression.
“The oil is extracted from marijuana, a very pure oil is extracted, which has amazing medicinal usesThey use it for various things and, what’s more, several doctors recommend it,” said the mayor.
The research was carried out by the Municipal Secretary of Health and Sports through the Teaching and Research Unit and presented during the First Cannabis Congress of Bolivia, organized by the Papá GanJah Collective. The study contemplated a systematic review with meta-analysis and analysis of clinical trials worldwide. The investigation concluded that there is a significant improvement in patients with the chronic pain relief and an increase in people’s quality of life.

When asked if the proposed legalization would not be considered an apology for the crime, since marijuana is an illegal drug with sanctioned possession and sale and is on the list of controlled substances, Mayor Arias responded with a joke that caused laughter among journalists. :”It is not that he throws a pull“.
The proposal of the Mayor’s Office of La Paz suggests that the use of the medicine be supervised by a doctor in compliance with the laws and regulations in force in the country, since, as with other medicines, it could have side effects and associated risks.
