Cycling: Angie Londoño and Kevin Navas are the Junior Pan American Champions

The medal table of the female youth category was practically defined in a massive arrival characterized by a small slope, where the Colombians Angie Marian Londoño and Juliana Londoño managed to be the best to win gold and silver in the long-distance event. The Brazilian runner Mayra Da Costa closed in third position to complete the podium.

Runners from 9 countries took the start at nine o’clock today in the Pan American road race, in the youth category. There were a total of 24 riders from Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, Chile, Bolivia, Panama, Venezuela and Uruguay. For the junior women, the route was 64 kilometers in five laps.

At 11:30 am the start of the youth men’s category was attended by 39 runners from 12 countries (Mexico, Chile, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Honduras, Cuba and Uruguay. The total distance to complete in this test was 115.2 kilometers in 9 laps.

The escape of seven runners would take place after the second round, made up of Mexico, Ecuador, the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Ecuador and Cuba.

Kevin Navas from Ecuador jumped from the chasing group and despite this wear and tear, added to some attacks that were recorded, he met Colombian Juan David Urian in the final sprint, proving himself the winner of the test and giving his country the first medal of this Pan-American. Cuban Carlo Montes came in third to give his country the bronze medal.

For tomorrow, the women’s elites will start the game at 9:00 am and will cover 102.4 kilometers. Immediately after, it will be the turn of the U-23 men at one in the afternoon, who will close the long-distance test on Saturday with 153.6 kilometers.
