Son of Enrique Molina claims a plaque with his father’s name in the Pantheon of Culture

MIAMI, United States. – The musician Pavel Molina Ruiz, son of the renowned Cuban actor Enrique Molina, made public on social networks his discontent for the lack of recognition towards his father, deceased in September 2021 because of COVID-19.

Molina Ruiz expressed her disappointment at not finding a commemorative plaque in honor of her father in the Pantheon of Cuban Culture, where his remains rest.

In his publication, the musician recounted how he contacted various personalities from Cuban culture to ensure that his father received the recognition he deserved. “I think my father deserves a small and humble plaque with his name in the La Cultura pantheon where his remains are,” he wrote.

Molina Ruiz claims to have asked the person in charge of her father’s funeral if she should bring a letter from Italy, where she lives, but she assured her that “everything would be resolved to deposit the ashes” of the popular Cuban actor “with all the honors ”.

However, upon arriving in Cuba, the artist found that “there was nothing, absolutely nothing” in terms of recognition for his father. He even had to buy a box to deposit his remains, since not even that was prepared. “Luckily I was cautious and bought here before going to Cuba the little box to deposit his remains, because even that was not ready, that is, there was none,” he said.

Six months have passed since his visit to Cuba and, according to Molina Ruiz, his father is still buried in the pantheon “as if he were an unnamed ‘disappeared’ from the war.” The musician expressed his frustration through social networks: “Where and to whom should I write a letter asking such a ‘complicated favor’ to honor a man who made an entire country laugh and cry through a simple television? ”.

Molina passed away on September 3, 2021. According to the official website Cubascene, his death “It occurred due to complications derived from COVID-19 and after being hospitalized under the care of a multidisciplinary team of medical personnel who fought until the last hours to save his life.”

Born on October 31, 1943 in the municipality of Bauta, former Havana province, Molina stood out for his extensive career in film, theater and television.

“He managed to consolidate his career to become one of the most outstanding actors alongside great artists and experienced directors, placing himself in the public’s preference and taste. In the popular imagination, his masterful performances in dramatized spaces for television still survive as the character of Silvestre Cañizo together with Alina Rodríguez in the telenovela wild land, Under the same sun, the other corner and the remembered serial In silence it has had to beamong other productions”, according to Cubascene.
