This was an urgent request due to toll issues, the fall of the Alambrado bridge generates more travel costs. For example, from Cali to that point on the La Vieja river, in a private car: $97,800, nine tolls.
News Valley.
More than 15 days after the Alambrado bridge fell, over the La Vieja river, on the border between Valle del Cauca and Quindío, the national government agreed to freeze the Corozal toll; one of the most expensive, and reduce the value of two others.
For example, a trip from Cali to where the bridge fell, in a private car: $97,800.
There were nine tolls on this route: Cali – Rozo (Palmira) – Buga – Betania – Guacarí – La Uribe – La Paila -Caicedonia. 3 and a half hours of travel.
There were 1 toll in Cencar, 1 in Rozo, 1 in La Uribe; 2 in Cerrito, 2 in Betania, and 2 in Corozal, “three kilometers from the fallen bridge,” and they continued to charge.
That one from Corozal, each one at 13 thousand pesos.
A longer tour now without that passage over the La Vieja river, which entails more travel hours, more tolls, more gasoline or ACPM.
Given the situation, and because installing a new bridge will not be an easy task nor can it be done immediately, the national government has given “its arm to twist” and agreed to reduce the cost of tolls.
The Ministry of Transport announced that there will be reductions in the tolls of Cerritos and Circasia, which are on the alternative route, and that the one from Corozal, his collection will be frozen until further order, according to Resolution 15-505.
For the Cerritos and Circasia tolls there will be a reduction in the cost of 58%.
- Circasia Toll, cars will pay $7,266; buses and two-axle trucks for $9,282; trucks with three and four axles $22,638; trucks with five axles for $27,846 and trucks with seven axles for $30,996.
- For the Cerritos toll: automobiles $5,628; buses and trucks $6,426; trucks with three and four axles at $15,918, trucks with five axles at $20,832 and trucks with seven axles at $32,944.
These discounts will be “starting next Tuesday.”

The Army will help with the installation of a military-type bridge, however, given the importance of this road that connects two departments, a bridge or permanent crossing is urgent.
