They denounce the detention of the Mexican-Nicaraguan citizen Arnoldo Guillén

Within the framework of the fifth anniversary of the civic rebellion of April 2018, the Ortega Police have been in charge of “kidnapping” more opponents. Yesterday afternoon, April 19, political organizations denounced the arbitrary detention of the citizen Arnoldo Guillenwho was taken from the hostel where he was staying in the city of Corinto, Chinandega.

Guillén, who has dual Mexican and Nicaraguan nationality, was arrested “just for not agreeing with the policies of the dictatorship,” according to the Mentes Libres platform.

Faced with this new repressive attack, opposition leaders and political organizations demanded the immediate release of Arnoldo Guillén, as well as respect for his physical integrity.

«Freedom for Arnoldo Guillén! The dictatorship is filling the prisons again. Their repressive policy is that of “revolving doors”, they take some out of jail to put others in. Only without a dictatorship will we be able to break this vicious cycle,” the Nicaraguan University Alliance (AUN) wrote on its Twitter account.

On Wednesday, April 19, the Ortega dictatorship imposed its National Day of Peacewhich has resulted in a repressive wave that broke out since the beginning of Holy Week.

To date, the arbitrary arrests, in the context of the civic rebellion, exceed 30 opponents, which include the journalist from Nandaime Victor Ticaywho has not been brought to court order.
