Conaprole: union and company reached an agreement and the strike was lifted

The Association of Workers and Employees of Conaprole (AOEC) issued a statement in which it assured that trade union measures ceased arranged by the union that had been taking place since last Tuesday.

In the communiqué, the union affirms that a tripartite scope from the next monday april 24 that will last 72 business hours and that workers will have the option, from Friday to Wednesday, April 26, of not lose the wages of those days.

The way of not lose the wages of those days it will be to enjoy as annual leave said dayschoose to work in another sector of the plant or not work those days and make up the hours later.

The union conflict originated from the union’s rejection of the rescheduling of work shiftssomething that happened after the company implemented new packaging machines.

Conaprole made an investment in the Rodríguez (San José) plant and went from working with two packaging machines –each with a capacity of 6,000 liters per hour– to one with a capacity of 15,000 liters per hour. As explained by union leader Luis Goichea, this led the company to propose a rescheduling of shifts and forms of work.

In this way, the company organized three work shifts with fewer people per shift. In addition, it referred 10 people to different sectors of the plant, which the union rejected, alleging that they do not agree and that the changes were made without prior negotiation. That is why they decided to take union measures.
