Cuban Arley Calderón won this Wednesday two gold medals in the 67 kilograms division, during the second date of the Weightlifting what in Dominican Republic distribute quotas for the Central American and Caribbean Games San Salvador, at the end of next June.
according to a report from the agency Latin Press (PL), Calderón began his presentation at the José Joaquín Puello Herrera Pavilion, in Santo Domingo’s Parque del Este, hoarding a silver medal in the snatch exercise, lifting 126 kilograms.
He achieved the best performance in the clean and jerk movement, with a height of 164 kilograms that was unattainable for the rest of his rivals, and that allowed him to secure his second crown of the day, setting the best total in the division at 290 kilos.
The second best sum was achieved by Orlando Vásquez, with 286 kilos. The Nicaraguan prevailed in the snatch with 127 kilos, and was the silver medalist in the clean and jerk with 159 kilograms, according to a note in the local newspaper Caribbean.
According to this medium, the other two bronze medals were in the hands of Fabián Márquez, from Venezuela, with 120 kilos in the snatch, 152 in the clean and jerk, for a total of 272 kilograms.
After these results, the Cuban team accumulates a couple of titles, one silver medal and two bronze medals, the latter contributed on the opening date of the contest by Raibet Machado in the clean and jerk and total of the 55-kilogram division.

Four Cuban weightlifters will look for their tickets for the regional multisport event on Thursday during the third day of the Dominican contest, among them Regla Morales and Yeniuska Mirabal, in the women’s 64 and 71 kilogram divisions, respectively.
For men, Edisnel Corrales (81 kg) and Olfides Sáez (89 kg) will compete, PL specifies.
