Legislators calculate until July pre-selection of candidates for magistrates

The mixed commission of Constitution of the Plurinational Assembly calculated the days required for the pre-selection of candidates for magistrates of the Judicial Branch, This adjustment covers until July the delivery of lists to the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE).

In this Tuesday’s session, a tentative calendar was prepared, avoiding dates and the days that each phase of the process will take were taken into account and the calculation indicates that until the end of June the pre-selection in the commissions would conclude and until the first fortnight of July the work of the Assembly.

The reception of applications would be 10 days from the approval of the Regulations and the Call in Assembly session; then the publication of the candidates who delivered their documents would be one more day.

The third step will be requirements check common and specific, that is, separating the candidates for the four judicial instances: the Plurinational Constitutional Court (TCP), the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), the Agro-environmental Court and the Magistracy Council, this process it will take another 10 days.

The publication of the lists of candidates enabled by compliance with the requirements will be one day. The fifth step would be the presentation of the challenges against the candidates from the citizenship, which will last 5 days. The sixth step is the resolution of the disqualification demands, this will take 12 days.

Deputy Juan José Jáuregui said that they are established 80 days for the Assembly to send the lists to the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE), therefore, after 66 days of the pre-selection will be added 14 days to search for consensus that allow two-thirds in the Assembly.
