9/11 prisoner threatens to take his own life after being abused in prison

MIAMI, United States. — The political prisoner Abel Machado Conde, a protester of the protests of July 11, 2021 (11J), assured that he would take his own life if the abuses against him continued in the Quivicán prison (Mayabeque), where he was finds himself confined

In a letter sent to his mother, Olga Conde, the young man, who suffers from a mental disorder, confessed that he did not want to continue suffering in prison.

“Mom, I’m sorry. I love you with all my soul, but if they kick me out one more day without having done anything, I’m going to take my life. I can’t take it anymore,” says the letter.

In March of this year, the mother of the political prisoner told Radio Television Martí that her son was the victim of mistreatment by an officer from the maximum security prison of Quivicán.

Machado Conde was allegedly beaten by the deputy head of the prison, who tried to forcibly return him to the same detachment from which he had to be transferred after being threatened by a highly dangerous common prisoner.

In the last letter sent to his mother, the young man refers to these abuses.

“After that guy hit me and they raised the case, I realized that everything was square to screw me. But no one is going to mistreat me anymore, I’m already tired of so much suffering. I feel very sorry for you, but if that happens I take my life. It’s enough to suffer. I love you with all my soul and tell my little brother that if he arrives that day, the only thing I ask of him is that he always talk to my little nephews about me, that I love them with all my heart and soul. Love you very much. Your son Abel ”, indicates the text.

Since he was deprived of his liberty, Abel Machado Conde has attempted suicide on two occasions.

“People with this type of disorder are especially vulnerable and require special treatment. The Cuban regime does not cease its repression and harassment. Anything that happens to this young man is their total responsibility, ”he denounced in Twitter the platform Not one more political prisoner in Cuba.
