The residents of the Uru Chipaya community, in Oruro, ask the Government for help to evacuate them due to the flood that affects 300 families. They affirm that many lost their houses, their production and even belongings from their homes.

“We are desperate due to this disaster, there are 350 families affected and 90% of the animals are affected and continue to die until now due to the overflow of the Barras River, as well as the overflow of the Lauca River. Mr. President (Luis Arce) we ask for help as the Uru Chipaya population, we need provisions, food, ”he declared to RTP.

He added that on a tour he made, he observed that there are families who are trapped in the countryside, they cannot leave, there is no telephone signal and there are power outages. He demanded the evacuation of the inhabitants of the place.

The governor of Oruro, Jhonny Vedia, stated that the flooding of the Lauca and Barras rivers affected four municipalities such as Toledo, Poopó and Chipaya, the latter being where it is most affected by rainfall.

“We have four affected municipalities, we are talking about Toledo, Poopó or Chipaya, which have declared an emergency due to the floods and the procedures are already being carried out. This caused the Uru Chipaya community not to have access to gas, we have already made a request to YPFB so that they can provide cylinders, the electricity has also been cut off, “said Vedia.

The Ministry of Health and Sports reported that this Tuesday it deployed medical brigades for preventive care of families that are affected by natural disasters due to rains and floods in the ancient population of Uru Chipaya; as in the municipality of Chuquisaca.

The head of the Risk Management Unit for Environmental Health, Emergencies and Disasters, Lizeth Ganci, stated that although crops are affected in this indigenous town only because of the floods, it is necessary to prevent diarrheal, respiratory and infectious diseases in the population. and others.
