Expand economic protection for older adults

The Ministry of Health announced the waiting time to apply the vaccine after having suffered a disease, such as chikungunya.

One of the frequent questions is the waiting time to be vaccinated after going through some disease. In this sense, Public Health answers this question.

In case of suffering COVID-19 or any acute illnessthe person can apply the anticovid vaccine once fully recovered.

While if one had chikungunya or dengue, It is recommended to get vaccinated one month after the onset of symptoms of these diseases.

Currently the Ministry of Health is carrying out a vaccination campaign with lbivalent against COVID-19 and quadrivalent against influenza, according to what d

uring the winter, coinfections are frequent, be they viruses among themselves, such as SARS-CoV2 and influenza, SARS-CoV2 with other viruses (adenovirus, respiratory syncytial virus, metapneumovirus), or respiratory viruses with bacteria, such as SARS-CoV2 with pneumococcus, or influenza virus with pneumococcus.

This campaign aims to prevent mortality and serious morbidity, in subgroups of the population, defined by the biomedical conditions that are associated with a higher risk of death and complications caused or secondary to infection by the virus, and to preserve the integrity of essential services.

The bivalent vaccine against COVID-19, a single and annual dose, is applied to people 6 years of age and older, with the following interval:

– 4 months after the second dose, or

– 6 months after the booster dose, regardless of whether or not you received the first or second booster.

In the case of pregnant women, having completed 12 weeks of gestation, they may receive the vaccine, with a medical indication, through a medical certificate signed and sealed by the professional.

Besides, the quadrivalent vaccine against influenza is applied from six months of life onwards. It is free for the entire population, mainly for those who are part of risk groups, that is:

– Children from 6 to 35 months of age.

– Health workers.

– Pregnant.

– Puerperas.

– People with underlying disease.

– People aged 60 and over.
