Fishermen denounce a new oil spill in the golfete de Coro

The fishermen from Golfete de Coro denounced that there are already more than 20 oil spills in the area and they have not obtained compensation from PDVSA for the damages.

A new oil spill was registered this Tuesday, April 18, in the Golfete de Coro, Falcón state, according to a complaint filed by fishermen in the area.

Sergio González and Nelio Medina, on behalf of the Coro golfete fishermen, pointed out that the new spill was recorded in pipe number 1 of the pipeline that crosses the Coro golfete. They assured that there are already more than 20 in the area.

The fishermen demand compensation from PDVSA, since they have already been struggling for two years with the problem that prevents them from going fishing.

They added that “so much oil is spilled in the Gulf” and they do not have fuel, so they request an increase in fuel liters for 240-liter canoes, bongos, and 480-liter sunshades, as well as for boats that work on a large scale with diesel of 1,000 liters per job.

They stressed that in the offices of the regional director of the Ministry of Petroleum in Falcón, ray delmoralthey rest all the requests that they have made in the last months.

Until now, neither PDVSA nor the Falcón Regional Directorate reported the oil spill in the Golfete de Coro area.
