The ANCAP board of directors has made a unanimous decision in accepting an agreement with Raul Sendic, former vice president of the Republic and former president of said state company. The main purpose of this agreement is recover the money that had been spent through corporate cards.
The resolution issued by the ANCAP board indicates that Sendic’s lawyer proposed making a payment of US$5,191 and $221,717 to end the civil lawsuit initiated by the entity.
The payment of this amount will be made in two equal, monthly and consecutive installments.
In the agreement, Sendic has explicitly recognized the amount claimed in the judicial process, since the amount of principal claimed was US$3,978 and $175,020. In addition to recovering the capital spent by Sendic on corporate cards, the entity also recovered 50% of the interest thanks to the agreement.
Unanimous agreement for the payment of Sendic
The decision of the board of directors of the state refinery, to accept the reimbursement and recover 100% of the capital, was made unanimously, without subjective or political evaluations, since it corresponded and adjusted to the law. The agreement also had the favorable report of the Legal Services and ANCAP managers.
Ancap was seeking to close the deal due to the possibility of not getting a refund if the lawsuit continued. The resolution of the directory recalls that, despite having a credit in favor, there was a probability of losing the lawsuit due to exceptions filed by Sendic.
In other words, the action initiated by Sendic could have determined the total or partial rejection of the claim.
