Pino Pinto: “At the end of this month Martín Torrijos will run as a candidate for president with the banner of the Popular Party”

Angel Valdes | April 18, 2023

The spokesman for the Popular Party, Rafael Pino Pinto, said that the Political Commission of this group will meet this week to authorize former president Martín Torrijos to run for president within the party.

«I give the scoop to Radio Panama, the Political Commission of the Popular Party will meet tomorrow (April 19) and the waiver will be put to a vote so that the candidate Martín Torrijos can run at the end of this month, the exact day we will be sending to the media, but at the end of the month Martin Torrijos is running as a presidential candidate with the banner of the Popular Party and with the support of men and women who support that leadership,” said Pino Pinto

These are important steps to be able to make the official candidacy of former President Torrijos since after the approval in the Political Commission, the nomination would come within the party at the end of April and then the National Congress for the Nomination before the members of the party on next July 16 to have the candidacy firm.
