Chaos in La Guajira has paralyzed 250 tractor-trailers to Venezuela

Since the borders with Venezuela were opened, many challenges have arisen to be able to transit and take products or mobilize people to the neighboring country, this for government obstacles that have jeopardized the transportation sector.

Amylkar David Acosta Medina, economist and former president of the Senate of the Republic of Colombia, has portrayed this situation that affects transporters between Maracaibo, Guarero, Paraguachon, Maicao and Riohacha, pointing out that the Lack of logistical control is affecting at least 250 tractor-trailers that are paralyzed in the area.

“In addition, the warehouses of the free zones in Cartagena, Barranquilla and Santa Marta are completely full, they do not have room for more merchandise and they are about to collapse because there are no internally enabled Colombian vehicles with HC containers, to transport said merchandise to Venezuela”, remarks the economist.

Acosta mentions that There is also no warehouse infrastructure for the collection of merchandise.as provided in number 12 of the Operational Plan for the reactivation of international cargo and passenger transport between Colombia and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

“In order to avoid further trauma to the transport of cargo by road on the border between the State of Zulia and La Guajira, I would like to request that you temporarily suspend the Circular issued by the Ministry, avoiding further disruption and its disastrous effects, which are being extending to the ports of Cartagena, Barranquilla and Cartagena, giving it a reasonable term so that the required operational logistics can be available that allows carriers to take advantage of the terms of the same”request.
