Doctors, trade unionists, civics, transporters, teachers, administrators and students of the UAGRM, and government officials will take to the streets, this Tuesday in rejection of the ‘package of laws’ that they perceive as violating the rights of the population.
The concentration will take place in the bus terminal and will go, on the march, to the square September 24. But, as reported by Jesús Cahuana, national leader of the trade unionists, there will be other concentrations in the Cemetery and in roundabouts in the city.
Ideally, when a proposal has civil resistance, is to withdraw it. Make an evaluation and not re-propose something that the people are not willing to accept”, said Mario Aguilera, lieutenant governor of Santa Cruz, and indicated that this ‘bundle’ curtails freedoms.
On his side, Reinerio Vargas, vice-rector of the Gabriel René Moreno Autonomous University (Uagrm), called on the Moreniana community to participate in the march this Tuesday, against bills 280, 304 and 305.
“The university will always be with its people. The university has been alerting (since) a long time of this type of measures; therefore, it cannot remain indifferent to a national call,” said Vargas, who clarified that university activities will be normal.
Kadidja Ovando, Secretary of Finance of the Federation of Unions of Medical Branches of Public Health (Fesirmes), announced the participation of the ‘white coats’ of Santa Cruz in this protest.
“We are going to be firm; it is being violated and attacked (the rights), not only with the issue of the manager, the package of laws and the legitimization of illegal profits, it is an accumulation and a direct attack that they are throwing at us, and we are going to know how to react, we are going to be with the population,” he said at a press conference.
Then he turned to the authorities:
“You are our civil servants. You depend on us not us (the population), of you. They should keep the town happy and this is not a happy town. A happy town does not go out into the streets, as we are going to go out tomorrow (Tuesday). So, gentlemen rulers, please: rule with your head, not with personal interests; govern for a people, not for a political party”.
Wilfredo Anzoátegui, president of the Departmental Medical College, encouraged the population to join “This fight for freedom, democracy and the free expression of each one of us”.
The Civic Committee, through its top leaders, also called for participation in the march, as well as the Cruceñista Youth Union. In the same way, activists from different platforms called on the population to join the measure, through social networks.
From the Municipality of Santa Cruz, the interim mayor, Gabriela Garzón, this Monday morning indicated that they would analyze if they will be present; but during the day she did not confirm or rule out her participation.
