A prevention notice for surveillance and monitoring was issued this Monday by the National Civil Protection System (SINAPROC) due to the maximum tides that will be registered in the Panamanian Pacific sector in the coming days.
According to SINAPROC, the maximum tides that will reach a height of 17.0 feet (5.18) meters will be recorded from 2:35 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, until 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2023. .
They also pointed out that the National Emergency Operations Center (COEN) warned that if the maximum tide coincided with the rains, the levels of rivers and streams could increase, causing flooding in vulnerable areas.
Faced with this scenario, they issued the following prevention measures:
- Avoid carrying out activities on the Pacific coast.
- Artisanal fishermen must use navigation equipment and personal flotation devices (life jackets).
