After learning that Metro Goldwyn Mayer decided to prohibit the promoters of the “Yes” from using the image of the Pink Panther, Esteban Valenti accused the law firm of former Colorado senator Pedro Bordaberry of representing the world-famous film company, before what which Bordaberry responded to Valenti that he is a “compulsive liar” and a “turnip”.
This Tuesday, Valenti acknowledged that he was “misinformed” and was wrong with his statement that the studio represented Metro. “Now, it is nothing serious to represent MGM, they are not criminals, nor do I think any studio would mind representing them. And the background is still there, they ban us or prevent us from something new every day”.
It’s not that serious, turnip
“A few years ago, a show with the Pink Panther was held at the Solís Theater. Guess who the representative was? The Bordaberry Law Firm. It’s not that bad. Turnip”, emphasized Valenti.
He added that “it is much worse, because Oscar Bacot, founder of the MGM representative studio, is one of the organizers of marches in favor of the LUC. Chance?”.
He remarked that “the studio founded by Oscar Bacot Silveira appears in multiple posts on Facebook as one of the organizers of future 19 marches (on horseback, in many cases) in favor of the LUC.”
The use of the Pink Panther
On the other hand, Valenti stated that the Pink Panther was used extensively and without any problem in the referendum campaign for ANCAP, in 2003. “Now the transnational lion has woken up,” he said ironically.
The advertiser stated that “other companies have never before done anything in similar situations, like when years ago a Colorado politician used a simile of the Superman shield; or when Gustavo Zubía used James Bond iconography, a couple of years ago”.
