They are not touched: the immovable bases of the pension and labor reforms

At the beginning of this week, OECD countries such as Mexico, the United States, Canada, Spain and France recognized the work of the Colombian Government on the labor and pension reform projects that are being processed in the Congress of the Republic.

(Reasons why the labor reform would affect companies).

According to the Minister of Labor, Gloria Inés Ramírez, “For us as a Government, it is satisfactory that the OECD backs and supports the labor and pension reforms, taking into account that they are projects built on the basis of international Labor standards and in compliance with constitutional mandates for the protection of our workers. We will continue with the process before the Congress of the Republic and we hope that both the Senate and the House of Representatives not only approve these reforms, but that they are the best for Colombians”.

For Minister Ramírez, these proposals have as their main objective social justice and the stability of workers, in addition to a component of solidarity and equity with more than 2 million older adults who are in absolute poverty and do not have possibilities to get a pension.

(Why calculating the fiscal cost of reforms is a ‘tough nut to crack’).

For these reasons, For the Government, there are points that cannot be modified despite the fact that many sectors have expressed their objections and warned of the inconveniences of the initiative for the country’s companies.

According to what is known, in the case of the labor reform, the Government will not change the proposal that the night shift begins at 6 pm

The purpose of the government of Gustavo Petro is that the working day is once again between 6 am and 6 pm for the daytime shift and between 6 am and 6 pm for the night shift.

For its part, for the pension reform, the backbone is the pillar system, made up of the solidarity, semi-contributory, contributory and savings systems, which is why it will not make any adjustments in this regard either.

Yes ok, the conversations and discussions continue, the Government will remain firm in these fundamental purposes of its proposal.
