President of the Parliament of Vietnam will visit Cuba

The main objective of the parliamentary leader’s visit to Cuba will be to expand and further deepen bilateral collaboration in various fields, the Vietnamese ambassador to the island, Le Thanh Tung, anticipated in statements to the outlet.

The diplomat stressed that the delegation that will accompany Dinh Hue will be the largest from his country that has arrived in Cuba, taking into account the number of political leaders, parliamentarians, businessmen and representatives of friendship associations that make it up.

The parliamentary leader exchanges will give continuity to the contacts established during the visit made to Vietnam last November by the secretary of the National Assembly of Popular Power (ANNP) from Cuba, Homero Acosta.

On that occasion, Acosta reiterated to Dinh Hue the invitation of the Cuban parliament and its president to visit the island.

Cuba and Vietnam maintain close political and economic ties that have been strengthened in recent times. In addition to the support and common positions in international organizations, companies from the Asian nation have increased their presence in the Cuban economy and are currently among the main investors in the Mariel Special Development Zone (ZEDEM).

At the end of last year, and in the context of the visit to Vietnam of the head of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca, a business forum was held that closed with the signing of various trade agreements.

In addition, it was agreed to maintain dialogue between high-level delegations, as well as to encourage Vietnamese companies to invest in projects of mutual interest in sectors such as agri-food, renewable energy and tourism.

On that occasion, Malmierca added that Cuba will prioritize the reactivation of productive activities and the implementation of development cooperation projects in the cultivation of rice, corn and aquaculture.
