The Executive Vice President had no doubts in describing Lucena as a deep democrat, who with her work from the CNE and her colleagues from the Electoral Power, advanced so that the humble Venezuelan people, always excluded in the presumed democracy of the last century, had real access to true democracy in the 21st century.

“And it gave birth to a new, deeply democratic electoral system and buried the terrible Punto Fijista betrayal of the ‘Vote-killing Act’, giving life to popular sovereignty and participatory and protagonist democracy”, he sentenced when taking the farewell word.

“They introduced her to us as an electoral technique…”, said the Executive Vice President, recalling the moment when she met her. “But behind her electoral expertise was a first-rate patriot, from this Homeland,” she added proudly.

“He knew how to face foreign powers and foreign governments that acted against the country in moments of great anguish with great dignity. He knew how to defeat fascism and the terrible elements of intolerance with his smile and parsimony, ”explained Rodríguez, from that time when fascist experiments were attempted on Venezuela to ignore the legitimate authorities of the Republic.

“As Executive Vice President, I can say that Tibisay was an exemplary minister until the last second of her life,” she said about the last responsibility that Lucena carried out, in the University Education portfolio, from where she contributed ideas and initiatives to overcome imperial aggressions. of the north and its acolyte nations.

“That is the transcendental example, when Tibisay changes landscape, that he can give us… Today I can tell you, Tibi, that you leave with your head held high, that you never fainted and is the example for all of us, what it means loyalty, commitment to this homeland, to this people. Fly high, Tibi, we’ll be with you forever. Honor and glory to Tibisay Lucena! ”, She concluded.

Lucena left us a Homeland in peace:

Previously, a group of cadets from the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) moved the ballot box to the hundred-year-old building, and in its wake the pedestrians in Plaza Bolívar applauded the former rector, leaving the stage ready to bid farewell to the illustrious public official .

Musical notes were immediately offered to the glory of Lucena, and later, the words of the also former director of the CNE and current rector of the Bolivarian University of Venezuela (UBV), Sandra Oblitas, who expressed his regret for the untimely departure of Lucena.

“Even knowing about the painful illness that affected her, death always surprises us, it brings us down,” Oblitas said, expressing that Lucena will always deserve all the honors and recognition for the combat she always gave and that she described as “infinite feats of Tibisay in which he gave everything at every moment”.

“What we have today is not a small thing, the Homeland we have. To be here today paying homage to this free, sovereign and peaceful Homeland, we owe it to Tibisay to a large extent”, said Oblitas, recalling that he shared the hard work with her in hard times for the country but that it was worth every second lived.
