VP highlights the need for a “brave” presidential candidate who defends his votes

Voluntad Popular assures that the crisis due to rains shows the mismanagement of the Executive

José Riera, leader of VP, asked not to repeat history with the Venezuelan youth who develop their ideals and political convictions, and not to tell them to touch pans or dance in the event of an adverse result that could have been flawed, so it is necessary a presidential candidate in harmony with those ideals of struggle

This Friday, April 14, marked the 10th anniversary of the 2013 presidential election, which sparked controversy over the alleged “cheating” by which Nicolás Maduro beat Henrique Capriles Radonski by a margin of just 223,599 votes. From Voluntad Popular (VP), they highlight the need for a presidential candidate who fights for the votes in case a similar situation arises in the 2014 elections.

Jose Rieraleader of VP, hopes that in the primaries that will take place on October 22, it will be possible to elect a person who is willing to defend the will to vote, instead of “knocking on pans and dancing salsa.”

“We are going to achieve it by participating in the primary election on October 22, 2023, where we elect a candidate who has the essence, firmness, determination and courage to defend the votes of all Venezuelans. In 2024 I want whoever faces Maduro to know how to win, to make our wishes respected. We cannot wait 10 more years », he opined.

Riera recounted his personal experience in the elections a decade ago, when, at the age of 21, he set out to take care of the votes at the tables, and then received the order to touch the saucepan.

«10 years ago I was just a 21-year-old student, I was expecting my first child and I campaigned, I took care of the votes at the tables and I was waiting for a candidate who would defend my vote, my work, my victory. I felt very disappointed when they asked me to play the pan and dance salsa,” he recounted.

In this sense, he considers that the situation in the last 10 years would have been different with the willingness to defend the process and stressed that Leopoldo López, leader of the orange awning, has insisted on that defense of suffrage.

“We Venezuelans have to exalt those words of Leopoldo López that must be defended with determination and firmness, the vote and the will of all Venezuelans. We could have avoided this decade of misery and setback for our country, if we had had the determination to defend the will of all Venezuelans, because my vote counts, the vote of all Venezuelans,” he insisted.

Finally, he asked not to repeat history with the Venezuelan youth who develop their ideals and political convictions, and not to tell them to touch pans or dance in the event of an adverse result that could have been flawed.

“We cannot tell a young man of 20 or 18 years old to go back to playing pans or dancing salsa, when we have a future ahead of us for our families and our country. With great determination we have to choose a brave candidate to conquer the democracy that all Venezuelans deserve,” he stressed.
