The Rectors and representatives of Private Universities exposed the current problems of the management of Higher Education, mainly those derived from the management of the CONES, such as the excessive delay in the procedures for qualification of degree courses and postgraduate programs, despite having complied with the requirements of current regulations. They indicated that this notably affects the management of Private Universities and the access of young people to a professional training of their choice. In this sense, they agreed that this delay limits the options of academic offers available to young people, who prefer to study in the geographical area around them.
The Rectors requested that the next government improve the conditions of legal security and objective regulation of Higher Education, since they are emerging needs for Private Universities to continue generating opportunities for access to education, health and work.
In addition, they informed of the construction project of university hospitals through the investment of associated Private Universities and that it will offer free medical assistance to patients and their families.
For his part, Santi Peña mentioned that, in case he wins the Elections, his government will have as a priority the strengthening of Higher Education, the improvement of the management of the competent official bodies such as CONES, ANEAES, MEC, CONACYT, among others. He also assumed the commitment to expand access to scholarship programs for graduates and teachers from Universities and other Educational Institutions and to promote the necessary investment for the development of research projects promoted by Universities.
