The Association of Secondary Education Teachers of Montevideo (Ades) decided to prolong the strike in high schools in the capital until Friday inclusive in claim for the summary dismissal of the director of the IAVA high school, Leonardo Ruidíaz.
The unionized teachers of the capital -and who adhere to the union measure- will not teach classes tomorrow in protest against the summary and dismissal of the director of the IAVA high school.
“The sanction on the director is unfairthe decision has to be reversed,” he told The Observer the member of ADES, Camila Menchaca.
The National Federation of Secondary Education Teachers (Fenapes), which had called for a 24-hour strike for this Thursday and whose resolutions have scope throughout the country, will decide tonight if it adheres to the Ades Montevideo measure.
Teachers in the capital will meet on Friday in a “special assembly” to determine the steps to follow, said the union leader. One possibility, she assured her, is to extend the strike for the following week as well.
