“Through our Inlasa, in Bolivia (for) the first time we are producing our antiscorpion serumour antidote an antiscorpion that, in addition to being another result for health, also replaces imports,” said Jeyson Auza, Minister of Health, this Thursday during the presentation of the biological product. He recalled that anti-venom and anti-rabies serums are also produced in the country.

The minister highlighted the research work and the careful tests that must be carried out to guarantee the safety and efficacy of these antidotes for which, he indicated, the National Institute of Health Laboratories (Inlasa) complies with national and international protocols.
“We congratulate our scientists who worked to create a molecule that can bind to venom and neutralize the effects of different insect bites from our region; because, in addition, we have to say that this serum is produced specifically for poisonous scorpions, the specific scorpions of our region,” said Auza.
Another who celebrated the novelty was the president, Luis Arce, who shared the achievement on his social networks.

Auza added that the serums were manufactured for his national consumptionwhich will be distributed among the departments that require them and that there will be a “determined amount in the Inlasa to guarantee any type of demand that could occur in the country”. However he did not detail the amount of production.

At the end of February of this year, a four-year-old boy from Santa Cruz was stung by scorpion. The little boy, who had basic diseases, died despite having received an antidote that was obtained through a donation from the Brazilian State, since he did not have the antidote in Bolivia.
