On Wednesday, April 12, the workers of the basic companies met in front of the headquarters of the Venezuelan Corporation of Guayana (CVG), in the Universidad de Puerto Ordaz parish, where the institution’s supervisory board “took” their requests, after being completely “ignored” by the previous and ousted president, Pedro Maldonado in each of the protests carried out during his administration.

The audience with the designated president Héctor Silva Hernández and other leaders of the board was requested on Wednesday, April 6. They held a meeting -for approximately 30 minutes- with representatives of trade unions; In it, they evaluated the claims of the working class, listened to their requests and assured that on Monday and Tuesday of the following week they will define concrete actions to solve the existing gaps.

After the meeting, the president of Futseb, Josué Tremaria -who participated in it- declared that the board assumed the commitment to take the necessary and pertinent actions so that benefit payments and the reinstatement of those not required to their jobs are become a reality.

Tremaria pointed out that “the objectives of being attended and heard by this new supervisory board were achieved. We already agreed, we explained our point, our claim in the construction sector; We demanded the respect of the working class and from the meeting they told us ‘count on that’.

Before the meeting, Silva took the stage and pointed out that President Nicolás Maduro established the mission of “listening to the workers, solving problems and producing”, to which the crowd responded loudly “for when ? We want work, work to produce”.

Silva commented that the National Executive told them to visit the basic companies and analyze the situations that afflict the workers.

Fidel Bastardo, a worker at the Briqueteras del Orinoco company, refuted that payroll payments should also be analyzed, “because it will do us no good if they take our petitions, that they arrest the corrupt and that they are not placed under the order of the Public Ministry ; because at the time they believed they were masters and masters of everything, violating laws, stealing the payroll… that must be reviewed, ”he indicated.
