The government of Rio held, this Wednesday (12), the first meeting of the Intersectoral School Safety Committee, at the Guanabara Palace, seat of the state government. The purpose of the meeting is to act in combating and preventing situations of violence in schools in the state. Projects, training and various activities will be developed to prevent situations of violence in educational institutions.
“The perspective is that we have practical results and that each body present in the Committee brings ideas and proposals that effectively leave the drawing board and contribute to the safety of students and education professionals”, said vice-governor Thiago Pampolha.
Secretary of State for Education, Roberta Barreto, chairman of the Committee, explained the state’s effort to implement a task force that brings new measures and actions. “One of them is that the Civil Police create a title for occurrences related to school violence. From this record, the Department of Education will be able to work pedagogically with the data mapped by the Public Security Institute”.
The Military Police highlighted the strengthening of the School Patrol and the creation of the ‘School Network’ application, which is already in the implementation phase. “Another action developed by the secretariat and in the process of being concluded is training in crisis management and security protocols for education professionals”, informed the secretary of the Military Police, Colonel Henrique Pires.
The Police Station for the Repression of Computer Crimes (DRCI) has worked in partnership with digital platforms. With this, it is possible to identify active profiles on social networks that encourage school violence. All the work of the Civil Police is aligned with the Ministry of Justice and Public Security.
The group reinforced the need to include health professionals to help with issues related to the mental health of students and teachers.
