PSUV leader shot dead in Bolívar

José Atienza, leader of the PSUV and president of the Municipal Council of Sifontes (Tumeremo), Bolívar state, was assassinated with several bullet wounds.

The governor of the entity, Ángel Marcano, confirmed the murder and asked the organizations to “help to clarify this fact.”

Initial versions indicate that Atienza was shot multiple times on Tuesday night when he was washing his vehicle at the residence where he lived located in Lomas del Caroní, Puerto Ordaz (Bolívar).

The body of the mayor was left lying in the parking lot of the house where the Cicpc picked it up to start the investigation.
