“Alternative communication day is being celebrated today, because at that time, there were many community media outlets that were fully active and not commercialized,” said the journalist.
He recalled that it was a media coup since the traditional media did not spread the reality of what was happening in the country. “They put cartoons, as if people were not aware of what was happening in Venezuela, that logically caused the greatest rejection of the people. They were in power.”
Likewise, he stressed the important role of the radio station, such was the case of Fe y Alegría, where they took a leading role, assuming the responsibility of informing, despite all the risks. “Radio has always had immediacy and we were able to observe it when the blackout occurred in Venezuela; there were no social networks.”
