Chancellor of the regime says that banking the dollar will benefit the population

The measure, announced this Monday by the Central Bank of Cuba (BCC), “responds to the current circumstances and priorities of economic policy,” as announced by that entity in its Resolution 63 of 2023.

“The banking of the US dollar is a measure motivated by the current conditions of the country that will benefit the national economic activity and the population,” he said in Twitter the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Caribbean country.

The measure represents a twist with respect to what happened almost two years ago, when the regime issued the Resolution 176 of June 2021, which prohibited the acceptance of the US dollar in cash by banks and non-bank financial institutions.

The BCC justified the new opening to the dollar with the current economic scenario that the country is going through after overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic.
